Data we collect
Newsletter subscribers. When you subscribe to AI News Africa's daily newsletter, we collect your email address. This is the only personal data required to receive the newsletter.
Contact form submissions. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry.
Analytics. We use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (pages visited, referral sources, country-level geography). No individual-level tracking, no advertising profiles, and no third-party advertising scripts are used.
Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard server log data (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) for security and performance purposes. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not used for marketing.
How we use your data
- To send the daily newsletter to subscribers who have opted in.
- To respond to contact form enquiries.
- To understand aggregate readership patterns and improve the publication.
- To maintain the security and performance of the site.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertising networks or data brokers.
Email and the newsletter
Newsletter subscription is opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. On unsubscription, your email address is marked as unsubscribed and is no longer used to send the newsletter.
We do not share subscriber email addresses with third parties, except with the email delivery provider used to send the newsletter, which processes your email address solely to deliver the email.
Data retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for a reasonable period to support follow-up. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by contacting us. Requests are handled within 30 days.
